I was never nervous about win: Mamata Banerjee on Bengal Assembly polls result

| | May 19, 2016, at 06:50 pm
Kolkata, May 19 (IBNS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, whose TMC is heading for a massive victory in the Assembly polls, said she was never nervous about securing a win in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Banerjee said, "I was never nervous about the win. We always knew it would be 200 plus for us. Some people tried to create a ruckus, the local media tied up with them, but we won."

Speaking on the Congress-Left coalition, she said, "Congress committed a blunder. We were in a coalition with them in 2011 and secured 180 seats but this time my party alone secured 210 seats."

Banerjee also said that she would never forge a partnership with the BJP owing to ideological differences, but have respect for the chair of the prime minister.

"I respect the chair. he is our Prime Minister," she said.

Speaking on the GST issue, where her party has rendered support to the BJP, she said, "That is a different issue."

About her chances of forming a third front, Banerjee said, "I have a friendly relationship with both Nitish ji and Lalu ji. It is up to them to take a call."
