Nairobi, July 11 (IBNS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the Indian community in Kenya's Nairobi city and said his government aims to take the country's growth beyond the 8 percent growth mark.

"My intention and desire is to take India's growth rate to 8% and beyond," he said.

He said his government is aiming to improve the quality of life for the ordinary Indian.

"That is the main task of my government," he said.

"The world acknowledges the prowess of our space scientists who just launched 20 satellites in one go," the Indian PM said.

Speaking about his Start Up India, Modi said: "To tap into the energy of our 800 million youth, we have started a new campaign called Start Up India."

Modi said India is the only 'bright spot' in the world when the globe is facing an economic downturn.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta joined PM Modi at Kasarani Stadium where the event took place.

Modi reached Kenya as a part of his four-nation Africa tour.
