I-Day: Terrorist Burhan Wani's father hoists Indian national flag in Jammu and Kashmir's govt school

Srinagar: Slain terrorist Burhan Wani's father Muzaffar Wani on Sunday hoisted the Indian flag at a government school in Jammu and Kashmir's Tral region.

India is celebrating Independence Day and the flag hoisting ceremony was a part of the event.

Burhan Wani's father is a headmaster in a government school in the region.

The image of Muzaffar Wani hoisting the flag has gone viral on the social media.

"Burhan Wani's father hoisted Indian Flag in his school in Kashmir. I was Corps Commander when Burhan was eliminated. His father's views were vitriolic then. Nice to see this change in him and in many Kashmiri hearts. We need to create hope in the minds of our misguided children," Retd Army General Satish Dua tweeted.

BJP leader Ram Madhav posted: "Muzaffar Wani, father of the slain Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani, hoisted the national flag at a school in Tral town of Jammu and Kashmir''s Pulwama district as part of the Independence Day celebrations today.Muzaffar Wani is a teacher by profession."

On 8 July 2016, Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani along with two associates were killed in a brief encounter with forces in Bamdoora Kokernag area of south Kashmir.
