Hyderabad/IBNS: The Telangana Police Thursday said the man, who is an accused in the case pertaining to the rape and murder of a six-year-old Hyderabad girl, was found dead on a railway track.

DGP of Telangana Police tweeted, "The accused of "Child Sexual Molestation and murder @ Singareni Colony, found dead on the railway track, in the limits of #StationGhanpurPoliceStation. Declared after the verification of identification marks on deceased body."

The police are suspecting the man, named Pallakonda Raju, had committed a suicide.

Raju was missing since the child's body was found in his home Sunday.

The news of Raju's death comes days after Telangana Minister Malla Reddy's comment where he had said the accused will be encountered.

Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao had tweeted, "Would like to correct my tweet below. I was misinformed that he was arrested. Regret the erroneous statement The perpetrator is absconding & @hydcitypolice has launched a massive manhunt for him Let’s all make our best efforts to ensure he’s nabbed & brought to justice quickly."

The victim went missing from her home in Singareni Colony a week ago.

Her body, wrapped in a bedsheet, was found in the house of the neighbour on the same day.

An autopsy had confirmed she was sexually assaulted and then strangled.
