Hungry jumbo elephant swallows currency notes of Rs 40,000 in Assam

Guwahati, Apr 24 (IBNS): In a bizarre incident that took place in Northern Assam’s Sonitpur district, a hungry jumbo elephant swallowed currency notes worth Rs 40,000 by pulling a shop where the currency was kept.

Later, the jumbo vomited Rs 14,000.

The incident took place at Tarajuli tea estate in the northern Assam district, where a wild elephant on Sunday night interestingly swallowed currency notes of worth Rs 40,000 by pulling a shop owned by Rajendra Dugar.

The shopkeeper said that, he kept the currency notes in his shop.

According to the reports Rs 26,000 was in currency notes of Rs 100 while Rs 14,000 in notes of Rs 10.

The wild elephant later vomited the Rs 10 notes bundle.

Meanwhile, the forest officials of Sonitpur district said that, wild elephants came to the area due to deforestation.
