Srinagar, Sept 22 (IBNS): After being released by a local court, human rights activist Parvez Khurram was re-arrested and shifted from Kupwara Sub Jail to Police Station Kothibagh Srinagar during Wednesday night, family sources told IBNS on Thursday

Police had arrested Khurram a day after he was barred from travelling to Switzerland to participate in a session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Khurram Parvez, the chairman of Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances, was arrested at his home in Srinagar few days back.

According to family members, Principal Sessions Judge Srinagar ordered his release from Kupwara Jail but ‘dishonouring’ the court directions, police re-arrested him from the premises of Kupwara sub jail and shifted him to police station Kothibagh.

They added Parvez was slapped with Public Safety Act (PSA).

“He was taken to police hospital (PCR) for medical checkup and after that District authorities directed police to detain Khurram in Kot Balwal jail, Jammu,” family sources said.
