HP Police confirms security breach in Assembly complex in Dharamshala

Shimla: A security breach was confirmed in the police fortress at Tapovan Vidhan Sabha Complex, the venue of Winter Session Vidhan Sabha near Dharmshala.

The BJP-led state government and police swung into action, after complainant Ram Chand alias Ajay Kumar, residents of village Kaned, Tehsil Dharamshala, District Kangra informed that anti-national activities were going in high-security police fortress at Tapovan.

A statement issued by the Police spokesperson here on Sunday confirmed the incident, saying that banners and writings on the wall related to Khalistan and inscripted in Gurumukhi script were posted on the outer boundary of Vidhan Sabha.

On the basis of this complaint, an FIR was registered under Section 153-A, 153-B IPC and Section 3 of the HP Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1985 at Police Station Dharamshala. Director General of Police, Sanjay Kundu has constituted a Special Investigation Team for the investigation of this case.

The SIT has also been directed to contact the State and Central Intelligence agencies to unearth the Inter-State and International linkages, if any.

The Terms of Reference (TOR) of SIT are to take up the investigation of the above-mentioned case immediately and will carry out professional and impartial investigation to ensure transparency in the investigation of the case.

The Chief of SIT will direct investigation in a professional way without loss of time. The SIT would investigate the above case thoroughly & expeditiously to meet the ends of justice and would update the Police Headquarters with regard to the progress of investigation periodically.
