Holiday declared for schools, colleges in Chennai and 3 dists

Chennai/UNI: All schools and colleges in Chennai and three other districts will remain closed tomorrow as waterlogging caused by heavy rains derailed the day-to-day lives of the people while many had to be evacuated from their homes as rainwater entered several residential areas.

As the met office has forecast heavy rains, a holiday was declared in schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts for tomorrow.

The orders were issued by the respective district collectors, official sources said.

None the schools and colleges in these districts opened in the last four days due to heavy rains on Saturday night and Sunday.
