High-level meet discusses Amarnath yatra arrangements

Anantnag, Jun 17 (UNI): A high-level meeting on Monday reviewed arrangements being made for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, commencing from July 1 from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam tracks.

An official spokesman said here Monday evening that the CEO of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, (SASB) Umang Narola Monday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Yatra – 2019 at Nunwan Pahalgam Base Camp.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag Khalid Jahangir, ADC Anantnag, CEO PDA, G M Works SASB and other district officers.

The CEO impressed upon the officers to ensure that all arrangements must be put in place well before the commencement of the Yatra.

He directed Superintendent Engineer (SE) Power Development Department (PDD to ensure proper electricity arrangements and lighting of track from Chandanwardi onwards, also to tourism sheds, medical camps and other critical spots including emergency evacuation track.

He directed CMO Anantnag to deploy sufficient manpower at all halting stations and ensure availability of life saving drugs, oxygen cylinders and critical care ambulances. He stressed to maintain the cleanliness of transit camps, all halting stations and of the track.

CEO SASB directed CEO Pahalgam to keep special focus on proper sanitation. CEO PDA informed that railing of 7,000 feet has been erected and rest of the works would be completed by 20th of June. The CEO further directed ADC&PD to keep sufficient stock of rice, atta, sugar, Kerosene Oil & LPG available. He also directed DGM BSNL to expedite the installation of towers and ensure the functioning of BSNL network urgently.

Earlier, the DDC Anantnag apprised the CEO about the preparation being made for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. He stated that additional transit camp has been setup at Gulab Bagh besides, additional accommodation facility with intake capacity of around 800 people has been identified at Vessu. At Jati four prefabricated structure are to be erected and one building of R&B at Qazigund is also being used for accommodation purpose, the DDC added.
