Hema Malini visits her violence-hit Mathura seat
Malini met the family members of killed Superintendent of Police Mukul Dwivedi and also visited hospital to enquire about the conditions of injured cops.
"Met the family members- father, wife, brother & son of SP City Mukul Dwivedi & expressed my deep grief at their loss," Malini tweeted.
"Just visited Nayati hospital to enquire abt the welfare of the injured police personnel," she said.
The death toll in the violence that hit Uttar Pradesh's Mathura area stood at 24, forcing Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to order probe into the incident on Friday.
Around 366 people have been arrested following the clash between police and the people encroaching Mathura's Jawahar Bagh park.
The slain police personnel were identified as Superintendent of Police Mukul Dwivedi and Santosh Kumar Yadav.
Meanwhile, actor and BJP MP Hema Malini drew a lot of flak as she was found tweeting about her movie on Friday and not reacting to the grave situation in her own constituency.
Malini on Saturday said she is dedicating her time to serve Mathura.
"In Mathura&condoled with the bereaved families.I still can't understand how the great media thinks the sansad is responsible for law & order. They seem to be diverting attn frm the main issue -tht law & order is purely the state govt's responsibility. Why target me? I'm doing my job," she said.
"Anyone in Mathura will vouch for my sincerity - I'm improving living conditions, providing roads& drinking water. Rawal has undergone change," she said.
She said: "A sansad's duty is not to head the police force or quell rebels or evict encroachers. Development is my line of duty & I'm sincere in my job."
"I'm dedicating so much time to Mathura. Sometimes it is days before I even see my family or my house. Im attending to public needs sincerely.Wht do I get in return for my sincerity?Brickbats & loud accusations. I sincerely thank all of you who have supported me in ths controversy," the Bollywood actress said.
