New Delhi, Aug 31 (IBNS): Normal life was hit in the national capital as heavy rain lashed down on Wednesday morning flooding the streets, reports said.

Congestion was reported in between Delhi and Gurgaon.

Sounding alert, the Delhi police tweeted, "Be aware that your car's brakes may be affected by water intrusion. Drive with caution. #BeRainSafe."

"Avoid waterlogged roads. Keep central locking deactivated while driving through waterlogged roads. #BeRainSafe," a second tweet read.

The downpour also affected US Secretary of State John Kerry's plans of visiting several religious places within the city.
