Heavy rain, lightning disrupt train services in Howrah division

Kolkata, Mar 4 (IBNS): Train services on the main line and chord line sections of Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division were disrupted due to overhead equipment problems arising out of heavy rain & lightning from around on Wednesday, officials said.

"Normal train services on the main line section however were restored by 8.48 hrs while services on the chord line resumed at 10.27 hrs," read a statement issued by the government.

"As a consequence, New Delhi – Howrah Rajdhani Express (12302 Dn) and Coalfield Express (12340 Dn) had to be diverted via Bandel. 10 Mail/Express trains were detained enroute for about 90 minutes each on an average while 20 EMU locals were detained enroute for about 100 minutes each on an average. 32 EMU locals had to be cancelled during the above period," it said.

However, service in Sealdah Division remained almost normal excepting disruption of services at B B D Bag station due to overhead problem for about 25 minutes from 8.15 hrs.
