Hamirpur Congress chief Rajendra Zar removed from party post

| @indiablooms | Nov 05, 2022, at 07:23 pm

Hamirpur/UNI: In a surprising development, the Congress high command on Saturday removed Rajendra Zar from the post of Hamirpur district Congress president and appointed former MLA, Kuldip Singh Pathania as the working President of the district unit with barely a week left for the state assembly polls.

When contacted, Zar said he had sent his resignation to party high command on October 28 and it was wrong to say that he was removed.

Congress took the step following the decision of Ashish Sharma, the son-in-law of Zar contesting the Hamirpur assembly seat as an Independent two days after joining the Congress and quitting as he was denied a party ticket.

This information was contained in a message sent by the party’s in-charge for HP affairs, Rajeev Shukla to the HP party President and other top leaders.

Ashish Sharma is considered to be a strong candidate for the Hamirpur seat and is a threat to both the BJP and Congress.

Zar, an old guard of the organization, has contributed to uniting the party and was appointed as DCC chief in May 2022.
