Hailakandi BDO suspended

Guwahati, Dec 9 (IBNS) : The Assam government has placed Mainul Haque Choudhury, Block Development Officer, Hailkandi Development Block, Hailakandi under suspension under Rule 6 (2) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964 with effect from Oct 27, a government statement said.

As reported by the Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi vide letter dated 27/10/2016, Mainul Haque Choudhury was arrested on 27/10/2016 in connection with Hailakandi P.S Case No. 412/2016 U/S 120 (B)/409/468/418/420 IPC and forwarded to judicial custody and he remained in Judicial Custody for more than 48 hours.


Rule 6(2) of the Assam Service (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964 envisages that any Govt. Servant if detained in Police Custody, whether on a criminal charge or otherwise for a period exceeding 48 (Forty Eight) hours shall be deemed to have been suspended w.e.f the date of such detention by an order of the Appointing Authority and shall remain under suspension until further orders. 


Accordingly, the Government of Assam is satisfied that it it is necessary in the interest of public service to place Mainul Haque Choudhury, Block Development Officer, Hailakandi Development Block, Hailakandi under suspension.
