GST collections touch Rs 92,150 crore in September: Govt

New Delhi, Oct 24 (IBNS): The government on Tuesday announced that Rs 92,150 crore were collected as Goods and Services Tax (GST) for the month of September.

"The total revenue of GST paid under different heads (upto 23rd October, 2017) for the month of September 2017 is Rs. 92,150/- crore. The total CGST revenue is Rs. 14,042 crore, SGST revenue is Rs. 21,172 crore, IGST revenue is Rs. 48,948 crore (of which IGST from imports in September 2017 is Rs. 23,951 crore) and Compensation Cess is Rs. 7,988/- crore (of which Rs. 722 crore is Compensation Cess from imports in September 2017)," read a government of Indian statement.

The statement further said the total number of GSTR 3B returns filed for the month of September 2017 is 42.91 lakhs.

The last date for payment of GST as well as filing of GSTR 3B return for the month of September 2017 was Oct 20.

The Goods and Services Tax was introduced on July 1.   

The Central government has waived off penalty on delayed filing of initial Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns for months of August and September.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, "To facilitate taxpayers, late fee on filing of GSTR-3B for Aug&Sept has been waived. Late fee paid will be credited back to taxpayer ledger."

The government had earlier waived the late fee for delayed filing for the month of July, media reported.
