Growing demands to boycott Chinese goods as China ‘backs’ Pakistan

Patna, Oct 4 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): There has suddenly been growing demands from various quarters to ban Chinese products in Bihar in the aftermath of China blocking India’s interests in many ways—first by blocking India’s move to declare Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar a “terrorist” and then blocking Brahmputra tributary to build a dam.

These two recent developments coming close on the heels of Pakistani terrorists targeting Indian army camps have not gone down well among the people of India who say the safest way to express their anger towards their hostile neighbour is to boycott all the goods manufactured by China.

“It’s the demand of time now to boycott Chinese products and use indigenous goods. By doing so, we can certainly paralyse the Chinese economy,” said a senior BJP leader Neera Shastri. She is daughter-in-law of former Prime Minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri.

“We must take pledge not to use even a single Chinese item this Diwali,” she declared.

Local citizens say the upcoming Diwali—the festival of lights—is the ideal time to convey a very strong message to the neighbour which eyes our territory in the north-east and claims Arunachal Pradesh as its own.

A huge quantity of “cheap” Chinese goods—from decoration lights to candles to clay statues— invade the Indian markets every Diwali. While Indians celebrate the festivals, it’s China which reaps the maximum profits by way of its sale of goods.

Reports say China too has got quite much careful over the growing demands from the Indian people to boycott its products and has now stopped printing “Made in China” on its products.

Instead, it’s now printing “Made in PRC” on its products. PRC means “People Republic of China”.

“China is indirectly supporting Pakistan. It’s time for us now to directly teach China a lesson by boycotting its products,” commented Mukesh Kumar, a local resident.
