Washington, May 24 (IBNS): Promising that 'great things are in store for India-US relationship, American President Donald Trump wished Indian PM Narendra Modi after his party Bharatiya Janata Party registered a thumping victory in the Lok Sabha polls.

Dashing all hopes of the opponents, including India's age-old party Congress, Narendra Modi will once again take oath as the PM for his second consecutive term in the next few days.

Wishing Modi, Trump said he is looking forward to continue 'important work' together.

"Congratulations to Prime Minister @NarendraModi and his BJP party on their BIG election victory! Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important work together!," Trump tweeted.

Modi was quick in his reply and said the victory represented the aspirations of a nation of 1.3 billion people.

"Thank you@realDonaldTrump! This victory represents the aspirations of a nation of 1.3 billion people. I too am looking forward to working closely with you for closer bilateral ties, which also augur well for global peace and prosperity," he said.

Several other world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japan PM Shinzo Abe, have wished Indian PM over the vicotry.
