New Delhi, Nov 18 (IBNS) Identifying corruption as a "principle challenge" to the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said his Government is unsparing when it comes to punishing the corrupt.

Speaking at a programme at the Vigyan Bhavan, the PM said India is in a crucial phase of nation building and there is a need to fight relentlessly against corruption.

"The Government is unsparing when it comes to punishing the corrupt," he said.

Modi said the Government has taken significant steps to check corruption. It has constituted a special investigation team under the Supreme Court to look into the issue. Comprehensive and deterrent law has also been enacted that proves for stringent penalties, he said.
