New Delhi/UNI: Amid protests by Opposition parties including the Congress, DMK and the Trinamool Congress against the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday appealed to them to allow discussion.

''Raise any issue on President's address. I am appealing to allow discussion,'' said Joshi as the opposition benches continued their sloganeering.

Congress and DMK members trooped into the Well and raised slogans. They displayed placards saying 'Save Constitution', 'No to CAA, NPR, NRC' and 'Save Constitution'.
Trinamool Congress members stood on their benches and protested.

Mentioning the CAA, Congress Leader of the House Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said people carrying copies of Constitution of India, National flag and singing national anthem were being shot.

''People are being shot ruthlessly,'' he said.

Speaker Om Birla said the discussion on CAA has already taken place till 12 midnight and the debate cannot take place again according to the rules.

Chowdhury said, ''Goli se aap logon ki boli nahi rok sakte' (You cannot stop people speaking with bullets)''.

The Speaker called names so that members could speak during Zero Hour, but little could be heard amid din.

Appealing to members from the opposition parties, the Speaker said, ''If you want to save India, speak on bigger issues. Important issues are listed, speak on them."

During the last question of Question Hour, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi raised the issue of violence in Jamia Millia Islamia . ''One child has lost his eye, Girls are being beaten....,'' he said.

As the House met for the day, opposition parties started their protest against the CAA, NPR and NRC and continued during the Question Hour.

Opposition uproar continued and the Speaker adjourned the House for lunch till 1:30 pm.
