GM, SER stresses on safety precaution during fog

Kolkata, Nov 27 (IBNS) A.K.Goel, General Manager, South Eastern Railway held a Safety Review Meeting with Headquarters Officers at Garden Reach in Kolkata on Thursday.

Goel stressed on various aspects pertaining to rail safety on SER and stated that there would be “Zero Tolerance” on the matter.

Goel instructed to accord highest priority for safe train running during foggy weather.

He directed to closely monitor the progress of work on elimination of unmanned level crossings and advised to take all efforts to achieve the given targets of this financial year.

He also mentioned that counseling of safety category staff is of paramount importance and hence officers or supervisors should take up the same in right earnest.

In view of the safety of the travelling passengers, instructions were given to the loco pilots of all trains to take precautionary measures during fog. 

The loco pilots were advised to whistle frequently to warn gateman and road users of approaching train.  The loco pilots and guards were instructed to ensure that they should put the safety of the passengers at the top and given authority to adjudge the visibility during foggy weather and adjust speed accordingly.
