Gen VK Singh sparks fresh row with his 'presstitutes' remark

New Delhi, Apr 8 (IBNS): Union Minister of State for External Affairs General (retired) VK Singh on Wednesday sparked a fresh row by referring to the media as 'presstitutes' on the micro-blogging site.

"Friends what do you you expect from presstitutes. Last time Arnab thought there was 'O' in place of 'E' #TimesNowDisaster," the minister tweeted.

His tweet has drawn a flak from the Broadcast Editors' Association who have condemned the minister for making the statement.

"We condemn it, I am surprised that a member of union council could comment like this. BEA severally criticise this. This type of tweets deteriorate the image of government," said BEA's general secretary NK Singh.

Amid evacuation of Indians from strife-torn Yemen, the Minister on Tuesday said that this exercise "is less exciting than going to the Pakistani embassy."

This comment sparked a row and invited severe criticisms for Singh.

General Singh is camping in Djibouti to oversee the evacuation process and made the comments earlier on Tuesday during the media briefing about the rescue operation of fellow citizens.
