Future President of India Smriti Trani, predicts astrologer

Jaipur, Nov 24 (IBNS): It was a pleasant shock for Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday after an astrologer predicted that she will become President of India in next five years, media reported.

Irani, who is Union Education Minister, on Sunday visited 80-year-old astrologer, Pandit Nathulal Vyas during her personal tour along with her husband Zubin Irani to Bhilwara in Rajasthan.

According to media reports, he told 38-year-old minister that she's due for a huge promotion.

Smriti reportedly spent 4 hours at the astrologer's home and asked several questions regarding her future.

"She will become President... in five years," the astrologer told reporters later.

It has been learnt this very astrologer is the same person who had earlier predicted that actor-turned-politician Irani would become a minister.

Former President Pratibha Patil and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh are among the high-profile fans of the astrologer, who lives in Karoi village near the famous temple town of Nathdwara.

"What I do in my personal life is not a matter of public concern until and unless it affects my duties. I realise that I am being targeted for TRPs but if that can bring money to your organisation then I am happy to do so," she said.

Congress leader Mani Shankar Iyer also said that she can go to an astrologer for a personal visit but not as a minister.

"Personally if she goes then its fine, but as an HRD minister, she shouldn't go like this. Scientific thinking should be imposed," he said.

Congress leader Anand Sharma said that it is a personal matter and he would not like to react on it.

BSP supremo Mayawati also refrained to comment on the issue saying that it should not be discussed as it is a personal belief.

"There are several people in my party who come from different backdrops and belief," Mayawati said.

JD(U) leader K C Tyagi said that such meetings will courage the practice of superstition.

Another JD(U) leader Ali Anwar said that it is well known that whoever goes to Babas, gets trapped.

NCP leader Nawab Malik tweeted, "HRD Minister Smriti Irani visits astrologer to know future, soon she will introduce astrology in syllabus like Murli Manohar Joshi (sic)."

On the other hand, voicing her support for Smriti, Union minister Najma Heptullah said it is a science and that she also goes to an astrologer.
