Fourth phase polling in Uttar Pradesh :39 per cent polling till 1 pm

Raebareli, Feb 23 (IBNS) : Voting for the fourth phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh is underway in 53 Assembly constituencies spread over 12 districts with about 39 per cent electorate exercising their franchise till 1 pm, reports said.

Among the places where polling is being held are Raebareli, the traditional stronghold of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Allahabad and the backward region of Bundelkhand .

. The fate of 680 candidates will be decided by 1.84 crore voters.

Other districts going to polls in this phase are Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot and Fatehpur.

The maximum number of 26 candidates are in Allahabad North, while only six candidates are in fray in Khaga (Fatehpur), Manjhanpur (Kaushambi) and Kunda (Pratapgarh).
