Four members of inter-state gang arrested in Maharashtra

Kolhapur, Jan 29 (UNI) The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the Rural Police on Wednesday arrested four members of an inter-state gang, wanted for a bank robbery at Kale village in Andhra Pradesh last year, and seized two country-made pistols, 15 live cartridges and car, collectively worth Rs 7.50 lakh, from them.

Superintendent of police Dr Abhinav Deshmukh told reporters that acting on a tip-off, an LCB team detained four suspects while moving in a car at Sangli Phata on Pune-Bangalore national highway.

During the search of these suspects, police found two country-made pistols, 15 live cartridges and cash of Rs 93,275 (in coins).

Following which, the suspects -- Babu Kausar Khan (46), Fasahat alias Thazibalam Kallu Khan (36), Navajish Nansar Ali (34) and Guddu Alias (44), all from Uttar Pradesh – were arrested.

They have confessed to robberies at Kale village in the district, at Mamidikudru in Andhra Pradesh and at Unchitthi in Tamil Nadu, along with their seven other accomplices, who are still at large.

Further investigation is on, the SP added.
