New Delhi, Jul 20 (UNI) Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Saturday expressed shock over the demise of three-time Delhi Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Shiela Dikshit and said country has lost a dedicated Congress leader of the masses.

"I am shocked to hear the sudden passing away of Shiela Dixit. In her death the country has lost a dedicated Congress Leader of the masses. People of Delhi will always remember her contribution to the development during her tenure as Chief Minister of Delhi", Dr Singh said.

The senior Congress leader passed away at the age of 81.

Dikshit, who was appointed president of the Delhi Congress in January after Ajay Maken stepped down citing health issues, died in Escorts hospital in Delhi on Saturday afternoon.
