Five militants killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 18 (IBNS): In a major encounter five militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday, army said.

According to reports, Joint team of Army, Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and  Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon-and-search-operation after “specific inputs” about presence of militants in Chandergair area of Hajin.

“"As they approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. Exchange of fire is going on," reports  said.

While confirming the incident, Defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that five militants were killed in the ongoing gunfight. “A soldier of 13 RR also injured in the gunfight,” he said.

Spokesman further added, more militants are believed to be trapped inside the area .
