Five Indians among 50 killed in New Zealand mosques attack

New Delhi, Mar 17 (IBNS): The deadly gun attacks on two mosques of New Zealand left five Indians among 50 killed on Friday, the Indian High Commission informed on Sunday.

Two days after the attack on Christchurch city, the Indian High Commission on Sunday tweeted that: "With a very heavy heart we share the news of loss of precious lives of our 5 nationals in ghastly terror attack in #Christchurch," the tweet read mentioning the names of those who died."

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Police has also confirmed that the death toll has increased to 50, said reports.

The attack took place at two mosques in Christchurch city of New Zealand.

Over 40 people were treated for injuries.

The main suspect has been identified as an Australian citizen, Brenton Tarrant.

He has been charged and remanded in custody to appear in the High Court on Apr 5.

Three others have been arrested in connection with the incident so far.
