Fishing fishing vessel collides with Indian Naval submarine off Goa coast, 2 fishermen missing

An Indian fishing vessel Marthoma with a crew of 13 reportedly collided with an Indian Naval submarine close to North West of Goa, officials said on Friday.

The Indian Navy immediately launched search and rescue efforts with six ships and aircraft.

"11 crew have been rescued so far," read the statement issued by the Indian government.

Two crew members remain missing.

"Search and Rescue efforts for remaining two is underway and is being coordinated with Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Mumbai (MRCC)," the statement said.

The cause of the incident is being investigated.
