Farooq Abdullah on Kashmir terror attacks: 'Unless we talk.. we cannot solve it'

| @indiablooms | Jun 12, 2024, at 07:08 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has once again proposed the idea of dialogue over military action in response to the three recent terror attacks in the valley.

Speaking to ANI, Abdullah said, "We still have problems with our neighbour. These problems will not be solved by military action... Unless we talk to our neighbours, we cannot solve it. The terrorists are coming through borders, and they will continue coming. Whichever government will be there tomorrow, will have to face the same thing... We need to come out of these situations...

"We have a major Yatra coming (Amarnath Yatra). Any small incident that might take place in that will be blown up in the rest of the country. We Kashmiris are not responsible for these things."

"We have never favoured these things..." On the Assembly elections, he says, "Elections will take place. The election took place for the Parliament also when the incidents took place. Elections cannot be prevented by this..," he added.

The Jammu and Kashmir porivinces of Doda and Kathua were struck by two separate terror attacks on Tuesday.

A CRPF jawan was killed and 6 security personnel were injured as a result of the attacks.

A fierce gunfight broke out in Doda after militants fired at a joint checkpost of the Rashtriya Rifles and police on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road on Tuesday late night, India Today reported.

The Kashmir Tigers, which is linked to militant organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Security forces on Tuesday launched a massive search operation after suspected terrorists struck the border village of Hiranagar region in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to media reports, two to three suspected terrorists were seen in Saida Sohal village in Hiranagar area.

The suspected terrorists reportedly fired a few rounds and ran away towards the forest area.

Security forces later rushed to the spot and launched an operation.

Nine terrorists attacked a bus ferrying pilgrims in Reasi district recently following which the vehicle plunged into a gorge.

At least 10 pilgrims died and 33 others were injured in the incident.
