Farooq Abdullah detention: Tarun Gogoi hits out at Modi government and calls it 'dictatorial attitude'

| @indiablooms | Sep 17, 2019, at 05:24 pm

Guwahati, Sep 17: Former Assam Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday hit out at Narendra Modi-led government over the detention of former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah under the Public Safety Act and said that such draconian methods have exposed their dictatorial attitude.

Gogoi said that the Modi government has blatantly misused the power.

“A veteran and old leader like as 83-year-old Farooq Abdullah having pacemaker implemented, kidney transplanted patient, has been arrested, put under house arrest under Public Safety Act. This is nothing but a blatant misuse of power by the Modi government. It has grossly violated the constitution provisions providing life, liberty, dignity to the every citizen of India,” the former Assam Chief Minister said.

He further said that – the mishandling of situation of Jammu & Kashmir has deteriorated to such an extent, even the Supreme Court had to intervene and gave instruction to the central government to take all measures to restore normalcy as earlier as possible.

“By continuing all the restrictions, free movement, freedom of speech, holding meeting, demonstrations, cutting on all communication facilities and putting Farooq Abdullah under house arrest has amply proved that the situation has fast deteriorated,” Tarun Gogoi said.
