Ex- CM PK Chamling thanks the Dalai Lama for appreciating progress by him in Sikkim

Gangtok, May 28 (UNI) Former Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling responding to a letter of His Holiness (HH) the Dalai Lama has expressed his gratefulness.

'I am extremely grateful to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his kind words and blessings. I offer my humble prostration to him,' replied Chamling.

HH has mentioned ‘much progress made to improve the lives of people’. His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama, residing in Macleod Gunj, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, wrote, ‘I understand that your party has not been able to form Government this time, following the recent Assembly elections. I applaud the way democratic process is so well entrenched in this great country, which is a testimony to the maturity of democracy in India.’

HH has made it a point to express his great gratitude for the hospitality and friendship shown to him during his visit to Sikkim. He has said that it was wonderful that Chamling served people of State for more than two decades, making much progress.

The Dalai Lama said, last month marked the 60th anniversary of their (Tibetan Community’s) life in exile. Reminding Chamling of sizeable Tibetan community in Sikkim, he said ‘They have been doing well due to kind and sympathetic understanding of the people and State Govt of Sikkim’, and expressed gratitude for it also.
