Encounter underway between security forces and militants in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 3 (IBNS): A fierce encounter is underway between security forces and militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Friday, official said .

According to reports, acting on tip of information, Army and special operation group of Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in the village Chillipora in Shopian this evening.

Reports said  three militants are holed up inside a house and a gun battle is on.

Last week, three soldiers were killed while five soldiers including two officers were injured in the attack in Shopian District.

Earlier in the day, a civilian was killed and four other people were injured in a grenade attack in the busy market place of neighbouring Pulwama district.

According to reports, the  grenade was hurled at the security forces posted in the Murran Chowk area.
