Lucknow, Apr 20 (IBNS): In a sudden electricity raid, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's bungalow was found to consume units beyond permissible limit and also owes unpaid bill of Rs 4 lakhs, according to media reports on Thursday.

Electricity officials reported that Mulayam's house is currently using eight times of the permissible limit of 5kW.

Mulayam has been given the rest of the month of April to pay up the due bills and the officials changed the configurations also to 40 kW for which also he would have to pay.

About the surprise raid, an electricity official Ashutosh Varma said: "We are conducting a drive to stop the power theft, check overloading and recover dues."

Varma also clarified that they did not carry out these visits earlier because they never had 40kW metres.

Mulayam's house situated in Etawah, is one of the largest in the city with around dozen rooms, temperature controlled swimming pool and multiple elevators.
