ECI appoints Ashish Kundra as new Mizoram CEO

| @indiablooms | Nov 15, 2018, at 07:07 pm

Guwahati, Nov 15 (IBNS): The Election Commission of India on Thursday removed Mizoram's Chief Electoral Officer SB Shashank, just days before the state goes to polls and replaced him with IAS officer Ashish Kundra.

The move comes after widespread protests against SB Shashank in the poll bound North Eastern Indian state.

The decision to replace Shashank was taken following massive protests in Mizoram demanding his removal by various organisations.

Ashish Kundra, a 1996 batch IAS officer, was posted as the Commissioner (General Administration Department), Higher and Technical Education in Mizoram.

He was appointed after the poll panel asked the state government to forward names after it decided to find an alternative to Shashank.
