Drugs worth Rs 21 crore recovered in Assam’s Karbi Anglong, two arrested

Guwahati/IBNS: Police have recovered a large quantity of heroin worth over Rs 21 crore in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.

Police have also arrested two persons who carried the drugs.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, Karbi Anglong district police had intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS-04AC-5213 near Dilai Tiniali area in the hill district along Assam-Nagaland border on Sunday and during search, police team had recovered six packets of heroin weighing 3.45 kg from the cabin of the truck.

Two persons – the driver and co-driver of the truck identified as Rame Gurung (27) and Bhim Gurung (33) were arrested by police and they are hailing from Manipur.

During preliminary interrogation, they revealed that the heroine was en route towards Guwahati from Imphal.

The market value of the seized heroin would exceed Rs 21 crore.

Earlier, police had recovered heroin, brown sugar worth about Rs 15 crore in the hill district.
