DMK says Vinayaka Chaturthi tweet by Stalin a mistake

| | Sep 01, 2014, at 04:39 am
Chennai, Aug 31 (IBNS) Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Sunday said a social media greeting the people on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi by its leader MK Stalin, who is an atheist as claimed by him, was a mistake.
After a tweet and Facebook post saying "Greetings to all on the occasion of Vinayak Chaturthi!" by Stalin a day ago, the DMK clarified a day later that it was posted by mistake on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.

"Enthusiastic website operators posted without his permission and the greetings were not his wishes," said a press release by DMK.

DMK leaders always avoided greeting people during Hindu festivals since they are self confessed followers of late rationalist leader EVR Periyar.

Stalin is the son of DMK Chief Karunanidhi who never greeted people during Hindu festivals.

Ganesha Chaturthi, the Hindu festival celebrated in honour of the god Ganesha, is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi.
