'Dharmendra Pradhan will be responsible if anything happens': CJP warns as Sonam Wangchuk's health worsens on day 3 of hunger strike

New Delhi/IBNS: Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's blood sugar level dropped to 66 mg/dL as his indefinite hunger strike entered its third day on Tuesday, prompting members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to warn the Centre over his deteriorating health.

Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar since Sunday, where CJP members have been camping since June 20, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.

CJP warns government

The group, which began as an online movement before taking its protest to the streets, said the Education Minister would be held responsible if Wangchuk's health deteriorates further.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said in a post on X that Wangchuk's blood sugar level had fallen to 66 mg/dL, below the normal range.

"If anything happens to Sonam sir, Dharmendra Pradhan will be directly responsible," the group said.

Allegations over protest facilities

On Monday, Dipke alleged that Delhi Police denied permission to install a portable toilet for Wangchuk at the protest site.

He also claimed that the public toilets at Jantar Mantar had no water, causing inconvenience to the hundreds of protesters, mostly students and young people, who have gathered there for the sit-in demonstration.

About the campaign

The Cockroach Janta Party emerged as an online satirical campaign that uses humour and social media engagement to critique governance and public policy issues.

The movement began following a controversy over remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant regarding unemployed youth.

In recent months, the initiative has gained traction among sections of young internet users, with its organisers now seeking to convert online support into real-world political activism.
