Despite being firm on quitting as Congress chief, Rahul Gandhi calls organisational meetings

New Delhi, June 25 (IBNS): Despite being firm on his decision to step down as the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi has called organisational meetings of poll-bound Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand, media reports said.

The meetings have been called later this week.

Reports also said the Congress has dissolved all district committees of Uttar Pradesh and appointed CLP leader Ajay Kumar Lallu in charge to take administrative calls.

Gandhi insisted on resigning as the party president after the Lok Sabha poll debacle. In the 2019 General Elections, the Congress could manage to win just 52 seats, failing to even get the tag of Opposition Party.

Gandhi had also refused to become the Lok Sabha leader of the Congress and instead appointed party MP from West Bengal, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

The Congress president has also kept himself away from all public glares since May 23, the day on which the votes were counted.
