New Delhi, Jul 23 (UNI) Reacting to the defeat of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that democracy, honesty and the people of the state had lost.

'From its first day, the Cong-JDS alliance in Karnataka was a target for vested interests, both within & outside, who saw the alliance as a threat & an obstacle in their path to power. Their greed won today.

Democracy, honesty & the people of Karnataka lost,'' Gandhi tweeted.

The HD Kumaraswamy led-government in Karnataka lost the trust vote with 99 voting in its favour and 105 against.
