New Delhi, May 13 (UNI): Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal on Monday said the Uttar Pradesh government was yet to register an FIR and make arrests in the matter of a widow in Moradabad who had set herself on fire last month after she was gang-raped and sold for Rs 10,000 by her parents and later allegedly turned away by Hapur Police.

"Shame on UP Govt. The girl had to come to Delhi, call on our 181 Helpline and seek help! UP Govt is responsible for her present condition. Despite 80% burns, UP Govt is yet to register an FIR and make arrests. Poora gundaraj macha rakha hai!," the DCW chairperson tweeted.

Maliwal said she has written to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath for justice to the rape survivor.

"Have written a letter to @myogiadityanath 4 justice for rape survivor who was gang raped by over 15 men. Frustrated as no FIR was registerd, she immolated herself & sustained 80% burn injuries. UP CM should immediately order investigation and compensation!," she tweeted.

The victim is battling for life at a Delhi hospital with 80 per cent burn injuries. She is a resident of a village under Babugarh police jurisdiction in Hapur.
