Delhi sealing drive: Kejriwal seeks to meet PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi to resolve dispute

New Delhi, Mar 10 (IBNS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi to resolve the dispute regarding sealing drive in the national capital, media reports said.

The sealing drive is carried out against  business establishments under residential properties for commercial values. The drive is reported to be carried out in 351 roads.

Kejriwal, citing legal anomalies as the reason behind the dispute, said it is the duty of the central government to resolve the matter.

Kejriwal's letter to Modi has been quoted by NDTV, "The traders are on the verge of starvation and each shop is means of livelihood for many people. If all of them are rendered unemployed (due to sealing) then it may impact law and order situation."

In another letter to Rahul, Kejriwal said the matter should be addressed by rising above politics. He urged the Congress chief to put pressure on the central government to resolve the dispute.

Kejriwal's issue of letters came a day after his threat to go to hunger strike if the dispute is not cleared by the end of the month.

In Janurary, Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a meeting to discuss the matter but turned out to be a failure.

The meeting failed after the BJP leaders walked out of the room over disagreement.
