New Delhi, Nov 17 (IBNS) In a tragic incident,a senior officer of Delhi police allegedly shot himself dead, after which his wife allegedly jumped off the balcony of their fourth floor apartment in Noida on Monday night.

The couple was brought to hospital where Amit Singh, 34, an Assistant Commissioner of Delhi police was declared dead, while his wife was battling for life in a critical condition.

The couple has  an 18-month-old daughter.

Police said Singh and his wife Sarita had married three years ago. They reportedly used to quarrel very often.

Though the sequence of events is not yet clear, it is being guessed that the officer first shot himself and then seeing his body lying on floor, Sarita jumped off the balcony to commit suicide.
