Delhi Lt. Guv sacks 223 employees of women's commission in major step against AAP govt appointments

New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has sacked 223 employees of the women's commission in a major move against the appointments made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government earlier, media reports said.

It is alleged that former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal made those appointments violating rules.

The Lieutenant Governor's office claims 223 new posts were created without the approval of the LG while it has a sanctioned strength of 40 posts.

"Further, the enhancement of the remuneration and allowances to the staff of DCW was without adequate justification and in violation of the laid down procedures and guidelines," a probe said as quoted by NDTV.

Both the AAP and Maliwal are yet to respond to the allegations.

The major step is likely to trigger a fresh faceoff between the LG and the government, which were at the loggerheads in various administrative decisions related to the national capital.

The latest development in Delhi comes a couple of months after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in jail in connection to the liquor policy scam.
