Delhi govt have been suggested to reopen markets with odd-even rule: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said his government was suggested by people to reopen the markets, which are closed since the commencement of lockdown on Mar 24 midnight, but with the odd-even rule.

Addressing a press conference, Kerjiwal said, "People have suggested the running of buses with a reduced number of passengers and the metros on limited dates."

"Suggestions have also come from people of market complexes. They have suggested the reopening of markets with odd-even rule," added the CM.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had sought suggestions from people from various sectors over the next course of actions in tackling Covid-19.

Kejriwal said he will discuss the suggestions with SDMA and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal at 4 pm on Thursday and then will send a draft to the central government.

Delhi with 7,998 positive Covid-19 cases is one of the most worst-hit states.

India will exit the lockdown 3.0 on May 18 though Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his national address on Tuesday said the country will enter into the lockdown 4.0 but with "different colours".

Not spilling the beans about how the lockdown 4.0 would shape, Modi has hinted the country will have to live with the contagion which has no vaccine or cure yet for longer times.

"All scientists are saying Coronavirus will remain in our lives for a longer time. But we will have to transcend. We will wear masks and maintain social distancing but also we will have to achieve our targets," said Modi.

In almost the same words of Modi, Kejriwal had earlier said times had come for people to live with the deadly virus.

India went into the lockdown mode first on Mar 24 midnight when Modi had announced a 21-day shutdown which was later extended twice till May 17.
