Delhi air quality continues to remain 'very poor'
New Delhi/UNI: The air quality in the national capital continue to remain in the 'very poor' category on Monday, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).
The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 352 in the morning.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the air quality is likely to improve later in the day on Monday.
"The air quality is likely to remain in 'Moderate to Poor category' on November 23 and 'Poor category' on November 24 as the relatively stronger winds are favourable for better dispersion of pollutants," it said in the morning bulletin.
As per the SAFAR, the effective farm fire count has reduced to 181 and its contribution to Delhi is PM2.5 on Monday is 8 per cent.
The concentrations of PM 2.5 and PM 10 stood at 139 in the 'very poor' and 237 in the 'moderate ' category respectively around 10 am.
According to data of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI in the neighbouring parts of Delhi recorded their air quality in the “poor to very poor' category -- Faridabad (334), Ghaziabad (229), Gurugram (286) and Noida (314) .
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.
On Sunday, the Delhi government extended the ban on the entry of trucks carrying non-essential commodities into the city and work from home for its employees until Nov 26.
Though the curbs on construction and demolition activities in the city have been lifted, schools will remain shut till further orders.
All offices of the Delhi government, corporations and autonomous bodies will also remain closed until November 26.
However, offices that are part of essential and emergency services have been exempted from this direction.
Besides, the environment department, in its order issued on Sunday, advised private offices to let their employees work from home.
According to the IMD, the sky will remain clear, with a minimum temperature of 11 degrees, while the maximum temperature will hover around 27 degrees.
“The relative humidity at 0830 hours in the morning stood at 66 per cent,” IMD added.
