Declare Nitish as PM candidate for NDA’s return to power after 2019 LS polls: JD-U

| @indiablooms | Dec 28, 2018, at 09:20 am

Patna, Dec 28 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): In a curious political development, the JD-U has sought for declaring Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar as the Prime Ministerial candidate for “NDA’s return to power”.

“Agar NDA phir se wapsi chahti hai to Nitish Kumar ko Pradhan Mantri ka chehra ghoshit karana chahiye (Only the declaration of Nitish Kumar as the Prime Ministerial face can ensure NDA return to power),” a JD-U lawmaker Ghulam Rasool Baliyavi told the media on Thursday.

According to him, 70 percent of Muslims will vote for the NDA if Kumar is projected as the PM candidate.

His observation assumes significance as it was over the issue of the PM that the JD-U had quit the NDA in June 2013, shortly after BJP leader Narendra Modi was projected as the NDA’s PM candidate.

Modi at that time was the chief minister of Gujarat.

Kumar returned to the NDA camp only last year and helped the BJP return to power despite getting mandated by the masses to sit in the opposition.

However, Kumar’s fresh “PM ambition” has left the BJP in an embarrassing situation.
