'Daydreaming': Ravi Shankar Prasad on Rahul Gandhi's claim that BJP won't cross 150 seats

New Delhi/IBNS: Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has termed Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi's claims that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will get maximum 150 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as his "daydreaming".

When asked by ANI, Prasad, a senior BJP leader, said the Congress won't be able to open its account in Uttar Pradesh, where Rahul and his ally Samajwadi Party (SP)'s chief Akhilesh Yadav held a joint press conference on Wednesday.

"Why are you worried if he is daydreaming? Two friends had come together earlier, no? They got only 7 seats last time. Just wait and watch. Rahul Gandhi's party will not be able to open its account in Uttar Pradesh.

"Why is he afraid of contesting from Amethi? Why are they not announcing the candidate from Rae Bareli," Prasad said.

Exuding confidence in the BJP's return to power for the third consecutive term, Prasad said, "Be it Akhilesh-ji or Lalu-ji or Rahul-babu, they are not able to fathom which way the wind is blowing in the country. The country is with Narendra Modi-ji."

BJP will go upto 150 seats

Addressing a press conference with Akhilesh, Rahul on Wednesday said, "I can't predict the number of seats. In general views, I was feeling BJP was getting up to 180 seats 15-20 days earlier. Now I feel BJP can only go upto 150 seats."

"I am getting reports that our performance is getting better and there is an undercurrent for the INDIA bloc," he added.

What does ABP-C Voter predict?

The ABP-CVoter opinion poll, the last one before the Lok Sabha elections 2024, has projected a total vote share of 46.6 percent for the BJP-led NDA, with the saffron party likely to win 40.2 percent of the votes.

According to the latest opinion poll, the NDA is likely to miss its 'ab ki baar, 400 paar (This year, 400+ seats)' target but is projected to clinch a thumping victory, winning 373 out of the total 543 seats.

The BJP could win 323 seats on its own, a rise of 20 seats since the last Lok Sabha polls of 2019, and comfortably beyond the majority mark of 272, according to the survey.

Speaking in the Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that BJP alone will be getting 370 seats while the National Democratic Front (NDA) will touch the 400-mark.
