Dassault suspends production of Rafale fighter jets for India amid coronavirus threat

Paris/IBNS: French aviation major Dassault has halted the production of Indian Rafale fighter jets till March 31 in light of coronavirus scare, said media reports.

However, this will not affect the delivery of the first batch of Rafale fighter jets to India scheduled in May next.

Currently, Indian Air Force personnel are training to fly the Rafale fighter planes at six different locations in France, said reports.

As many as 350 people have died of coronavirus in France.

Delivery of future batches will be affected if the COVID 19 situation is prolonged, IAF officials have said, reports added.

Dassault had delivered the first batch of three fighter jets in November and the next batch is will be delivered in May next.

The final batch of all the 36 fighter jets is expected to be completed by April 2022.
