New Delhi, Aug 21 (IBNS): The Congress on Sunday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 'sufferings' of Dalits in Gujarat and questioned why the leader was 'turning blind eyed' to the issue but spoke on the people of Baluchistan.

A delegation of Gujarat Congress met President Pranab Mukherjee here and submitted memorandum on the ' recent atrocities on Dalits'.

"Memorandum on recent atrocities on Dalits, submitted by Gujarat PCC to President Shri Pranab Mukherjee," the Congress party tweeted.

In a statement, the party said: "Today, the Gujarat Congress met the Hon'ble President and submitted to him a memorandum highlighting the increasing atrocities against Dalits in Gujarat."

"The Prime Minister has time to acknowledge the suffering of people in Baluchistan but it is unfortunate that he and his party have turned a blind eye to the suffering of the marginalized and the underprivileged in his home state," read the statement.

The Congress leaders also met party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

"Met senior Gujarat Congress leaders on the issue of rising atrocities against Dalits & minorities in Gujarat," Office of RG tweeted.
