Dalit atrocities : PM must make statement in Parliament : Mayawati

| | Aug 11, 2016, at 07:44 pm
New Delhi, Aug 11 (IBNS) : Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Thursday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi make a statement in Parliament on the incidence of atrocities on Dalits.

She told reporters outside Parliament that the PM's recent statements on Dalits made outside Parliament  were nothing but an exercise in damage control.

Mayawati's demand came a day after the opposition in Rajya Sabha wanted the PM to make a statement in Parliament on the issue of Kashmir unrest.

“Our party wants that rather than expressing sympathy with Dalits, the PM should focus on acting against those who commit atrocities against them,"

“If he can speak on it outside, he can also say it in the House,” Mayawati said.
